I realize that my post may not be stating anything new, yet, those are some thoughts that I wanted to share.
I think that Arab men feel so worthless and unable to achieve their dreams, and that's why they try to feel superior by inflicting a feeling of submission on normal women and girls on the street. The act of harassment only proves that the harasser is really worthless.
When someone gives himself the right to show sexual appetite in public, and it gets viewed as NORMAL! Then, the whole society has a problem. When grabbing girls' breasts becomes a way to celebrate EID (feasts), then the whole society is SICK! When young men boast about the number of pornography movies they've watched in their lives, then the definition of masculinity has become severely distorted. In fact, masculinity in the MENA region is so distorted that I feel SO LUCKY being a woman. Moreover, I'm extremely lucky to have few SANE male friends...
If it wasn't for my amazing father, I would've hated every single man on the face of the planet!
In the MENA Region, femininity no longer reflects weakness, quite the contrary, it reflects strength and perseverance beyond imagination! Being a girl in Egypt challenges me all the more to prove how strong I am and how much I can achieve compared to boys who are already appreciated for their gender, regardless any achievements they make.
That's why Egyptian girls are more dependable now. They are strong and successful. They earn every accomplishment credited to them, and prove how fully human they are. They are tender, yet robust. They are beautiful, yet strong. They are loving, yet smart.
Gender doesn't matter, you idiots. What matters in the end is WHO you are and WHAT kind of memory you leave to this world.

men in eastern countries take over most of the society control, But no offense, women let them do that, so dont blame us for being weak and submissive! if u want a part in life, go take it and stop talking as men did and took it over,
name one field in anything, sciences , arts even cooking that the best 10 on the field contain at least 7 men, and i dont talk in east, i talk in the FREE WORLD THAT DOESNT SUPRESS WOMEN
and remember, most arab girls are "roshdi abaza" fans, the most oppresive, rude, womanizer in egyptian cinema, did u think about y is he that loved :) ?

First of all, I refuse your accusation that I am a "nazi"!!! What I'm asking for here is "equality", not superiority. Mainly, because I believe that God created us equal. No one needs to be superior, that's too shallow!
Honestly, I don't care about your opinion considering my strength. I am working hard and facing shit everyday, just as men are doing.
Women don't want a "part" in life. As a matter of fact, men are only illusioned when they think they're in control. Which is why they do silly things like harassing women in order to convince themselves that they're in control. How humiliating, to men before it is to women?!
Considering scientific achievements, bla bla bla, well, the scientist who discovered radioactive material was a woman: Marie Curie. Every year, the top Thanaweya Amma students are at least 70% girls. The most difficult colleges are filled with girls (medicine, pharmacy, economics,...)
And the "Roushdy Abaza" argument is really not in your favor. Can you explain to me why most Arab men are in love with Haifaa Wahby?! I believe she's the most outrageous manifestation of lack of morals.
Finally, I don't understand why you should be "personally" offended by my article. If this proves anything, it only proves that at least some of my ideas about middle eastern men apply to you.

ReplyDeletethey are all points of view or perspective, it depend how u see it. but before you make a decision please try the women point of view, as a man i can't feel what they feel as i don't get sick comments all day from sick people. so start imagining that we are in a world that men are sexually harassed by women, you might get a hint of what they feel.
but on the other hand, the generalizing of that all men are sick except your father and you SANE friends are not reasonable cuz not all men are like that. so there is a 4 types when it comes to SH:
1. the sick person who is like an animal or more likely a dog that needs to cut his balls of ( sry for the language but it needs to be said)
2. the monkey, who sees the dog and tries to be like him cuz he think that is COOOL or whatever. that one a littel talk will fix him.
3. the watcher and he says "enty labsa keda leh?" or " esta3'far alaah el 3azeem" as he walks by you. that is an animal but tries to play like he is a victim
4. the watcher and he acts on what he sees and they are not that many

ReplyDeleteI agree with most of your comment. However, I'm against interpreting religious text in order to reach the conclusion of GENERALIZING that all women are emotional, and all men are brainy.
I still believe that God didn't create any gender superior over the other. If we choose to think of humanity that way, we would be really undermining the wonderful image on which we were created.
